ETH Volatility Analysis for CPI, 11th January 2024

The data released by Bureau of Labor Statistics for Consumer Price Index on 11th January, 2024 has come in at an increase to -0.1% for December 2023. Compared to the previous release for November 2023 at -0.2%, we can see that prices & inflation has decreased but at a slower rate month over month.

To see the impact and volatility of ETH's price during the CPI release, we will first observe the difference in volume and price changes on the 4-hours chart, followed by the 15-minutes chart. Change in prices will be be determined by the high and low prices instead of the opening and closing prices.

4-Hours Chart Analysis

In the period prior to the release, the trading volume was 130,402 ETH with prices swinging between 2,604.80 and 2,665.74, representing a swing of 2.29%. Subsequently, the trading volume increased significantly by 130% to 299,929 ETH. Price action ranged from a low of 2,570.00 to a high of 2,689.39, a significant difference of 4.44%

15-Minutes Chart Analysis

Analysing on a lower time frame to get a more accurate picture, 7,011 ETH in trading volume was observed prior to the data release. Prices ranged between a low of 2,639.58 to a high of 2,656.58, a 0.64% change. Immediately following, trading volume increased significantly by 115% to 15,046 ETH. At this time, Ethereum hit a low of 2,622.40 with a high of 2,650.22, a significant change of 1.05%.
