The data released by Bureau of Labor Statistics for Consumer Price Index on 12th August, 2020 has come in at a decrease to 0.5% for July 2020. Compared to the previous release for June 2020 at 0.5%, we can see that prices & inflation is increasing at the same rate month over month.

To see the impact and volatility of ETH's price during the CPI release, we will first observe the difference in volume and price changes on the 4-hours chart, followed by the 15-minutes chart. Change in prices will be be determined by the high and low prices instead of the opening and closing prices.

4-Hours Chart Analysis

In the period prior to the release, the trading volume was 129,025 ETH with prices swinging between 377.45 and 384.80, representing a swing of 1.91%. Subsequently, the trading volume remain relatively unchanged at 127,332 ETH. Price action ranged from a low of 381.55 to a high of 386.99, a difference of 1.41%

15-Minutes Chart Analysis

Analysing on a lower time frame to get a more accurate picture, 6,014 ETH in trading volume was observed prior to the data release. Prices ranged between a low of 380.58 to a high of 382.00, a 0.37% change. Immediately following, trading volume increased by 7% to 6,444 ETH. At this time, Ethereum hit a low of 381.55 with a high of 383.44, a change of 0.49%.
