On 1st May, 2024, the Federal Open Market Committee has decided to maintain the target interest rate at 5.25-5.50%.

To see the impact and volatility of ETH's price during the Fed Interest Rate release, we will first observe the difference in volume and price changes on the 4-hours chart, followed by the 15-minutes chart. Change in prices will be be determined by the high and low prices instead of the opening and closing prices.

4-Hours Chart Analysis

In the period prior to the release, the trading volume was 71,081 ETH with prices swinging between 2,865.91 and 2,933.63, representing a swing of 2.31%. Subsequently, the trading volume increased significantly by 139% to 169,564 ETH. Price action ranged from a low of 2,909.97 to a high of 3,015.73, a significant difference of 3.51%

15-Minutes Chart Analysis

Analysing on a lower time frame to get a more accurate picture, 8,567 ETH in trading volume was observed prior to the data release. Prices ranged between a low of 2,899.80 to a high of 2,933.63, a 1.15% change. Immediately following, trading volume increased significantly by 287% to 33,119 ETH. At this time, Ethereum hit a low of 2,918.14 with a high of 2,978.60, a significant change of 2.03%.
