On 20th March, 2024, the Federal Open Market Committee has decided to maintain the target interest rate at 5.25-5.50%.

To see the impact and volatility of ETH's price during the Fed Interest Rate release, we will first observe the difference in volume and price changes on the 4-hours chart, followed by the 15-minutes chart. Change in prices will be be determined by the high and low prices instead of the opening and closing prices.

4-Hours Chart Analysis

In the period prior to the release, the trading volume was 298,027 ETH with prices swinging between 3,140.71 and 3,397.00, representing a swing of 7.54%. Subsequently, the trading volume decreased by 36% to 189,459 ETH. Price action ranged from a low of 3,295.42 to a high of 3,518.75, a difference of 6.35%

15-Minutes Chart Analysis

Analysing on a lower time frame to get a more accurate picture, 11,825 ETH in trading volume was observed prior to the data release. Prices ranged between a low of 3,275.66 to a high of 3,307.52, a 0.96% change. Immediately following, trading volume increased by 35% to 15,994 ETH. At this time, Ethereum hit a low of 3,299.19 with a high of 3,349.24, a significant change of 1.49%.
