On 20th September, 2023, the Federal Open Market Committee has decided to increase the interest rate by 25 basis points for a target interest rate at 5.25-5.50%.

To see the impact and volatility of ETH's price during the Fed Interest Rate release, we will first observe the difference in volume and price changes on the 4-hours chart, followed by the 15-minutes chart. Change in prices will be be determined by the high and low prices instead of the opening and closing prices.

4-Hours Chart Analysis

In the period prior to the release, the trading volume was 29,509 ETH with prices swinging between 1,624.63 and 1,634.39, representing a swing of 0.60%. Subsequently, the trading volume increased significantly by 115% to 63,491 ETH. Price action ranged from a low of 1,604.51 to a high of 1,640.79, a significant difference of 2.21%

15-Minutes Chart Analysis

Analysing on a lower time frame to get a more accurate picture, 1,559 ETH in trading volume was observed prior to the data release. Prices ranged between a low of 1,628.09 to a high of 1,630.65, a 0.16% change. Immediately following, trading volume increased significantly by 312% to 6,423 ETH. At this time, Ethereum hit a low of 1,625.00 with a high of 1,631.69, a significant change of 0.41%.
