On 30th October, 2019, the Federal Open Market Committee has decided to decrease the interest rate by 25 basis points for a target interest rate at 1.75-2.00%.

To see the impact and volatility of ETH's price during the Fed Interest Rate release, we will first observe the difference in volume and price changes on the 4-hours chart, followed by the 15-minutes chart. Change in prices will be be determined by the high and low prices instead of the opening and closing prices.

4-Hours Chart Analysis

In the period prior to the release, the trading volume was 81,100 ETH with prices swinging between 180.26 and 183.21, representing a swing of 1.61%. Subsequently, the trading volume decreased by 56% to 35,464 ETH. Price action ranged from a low of 181.52 to a high of 183.56, a difference of 1.11%

15-Minutes Chart Analysis

Analysing on a lower time frame to get a more accurate picture, 1,859 ETH in trading volume was observed prior to the data release. Prices ranged between a low of 181.60 to a high of 182.09, a 0.27% change. Immediately following, trading volume increased by 42% to 2,643 ETH. At this time, Ethereum hit a low of 181.84 with a high of 182.90, a significant change of 0.58%.

The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) has eight regularly scheduled meetings each year, but they can meet more often if the need should arise.
