On 21st September, 2022, the Federal Open Market Committee has decided to increase the interest rate by 75 basis points for a target interest rate at 2.25-2.50%.

To see the impact and volatility of ETH's price during the Fed Interest Rate release, we will first observe the difference in volume and price changes on the 4-hours chart, followed by the 15-minutes chart. Change in prices will be be determined by the high and low prices instead of the opening and closing prices.

4-Hours Chart Analysis

In the period prior to the release, the trading volume was 161,850 ETH with prices swinging between 1,334.01 and 1,400.00, representing a swing of 4.71%. Subsequently, the trading volume increased significantly by 285% to 623,529 ETH. Price action ranged from a low of 1,241.36 to a high of 1,408.90, a significant difference of 11.89%

15-Minutes Chart Analysis

Analysing on a lower time frame to get a more accurate picture, 30,385 ETH in trading volume was observed prior to the data release. Prices ranged between a low of 1,362.15 to a high of 1,400.00, a 2.70% change. Immediately following, trading volume increased significantly by 559% to 200,384 ETH. At this time, Ethereum hit a low of 1,302.95 with a high of 1,408.90, a significant change of 7.52%.
