ETH Volatility Analysis for Fed Interest Rate, 11th December 2019

On 11th December, 2019, the Federal Open Market Committee has decided to decrease the interest rate by 25 basis points for a target interest rate at 1.50-1.75%.

To see the impact and volatility of ETH's price during the Fed Interest Rate release, we will first observe the difference in volume and price changes on the 4-hours chart, followed by the 15-minutes chart. Change in prices will be be determined by the high and low prices instead of the opening and closing prices.

4-Hours Chart Analysis

In the period prior to the release, the trading volume was 66,833 ETH with prices swinging between 142.12 and 145.34, representing a swing of 2.22%. Subsequently, the trading volume decreased by 81% to 12,946 ETH. Price action ranged from a low of 142.45 to a high of 143.14, a difference of 0.48%

15-Minutes Chart Analysis

Analysing on a lower time frame to get a more accurate picture, 352 ETH in trading volume was observed prior to the data release. Prices ranged between a low of 142.85 to a high of 143.02, a 0.12% change. Immediately following, trading volume increased considerably by 76% to 619 ETH. At this time, Ethereum hit a low of 142.85 with a high of 142.97, a change of 0.08%.

The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) has eight regularly scheduled meetings each year, but they can meet more often if the need should arise.
