On 16th September, 2020, the Federal Open Market Committee has decided to maintain the target interest rate at 0.00-0.25%.

To see the impact and volatility of ETH's price during the Fed Interest Rate release, we will first observe the difference in volume and price changes on the 4-hours chart, followed by the 15-minutes chart. Change in prices will be be determined by the high and low prices instead of the opening and closing prices.

4-Hours Chart Analysis

In the period prior to the release, the trading volume was 152,607 ETH with prices swinging between 364.61 and 373.45, representing a swing of 2.37%. Subsequently, the trading volume decreased by 32% to 103,865 ETH. Price action ranged from a low of 363.61 to a high of 370.67, a difference of 1.90%

15-Minutes Chart Analysis

Analysing on a lower time frame to get a more accurate picture, 3,525 ETH in trading volume was observed prior to the data release. Prices ranged between a low of 367.44 to a high of 369.48, a 0.55% change. Immediately following, trading volume increased significantly by 448% to 19,315 ETH. At this time, Ethereum hit a low of 364.61 with a high of 370.67, a significant change of 1.63%.
