BTC Volatility Analysis for Fed Interest Rate, 1st February 2023

On 1st February, 2023, the Federal Open Market Committee has decided to increase the interest rate by 50 basis points for a target interest rate at 4.25-4.50%.

To see the impact and volatility of BTC's price during the Fed Interest Rate release, we will first observe the difference in volume and price changes on the 4-hours chart, followed by the 15-minutes chart. Change in prices will be be determined by the high and low prices instead of the opening and closing prices.

4-Hours Chart Analysis

In the period prior to the release, the trading volume was 47,731 BTC with prices swinging between 22,918.20 and 23,128.00, representing a swing of 0.91%. Subsequently, the trading volume increased significantly by 133% to 111,075 BTC. Price action ranged from a low of 22,760.23 to a high of 23,812.66, a significant difference of 4.42%

15-Minutes Chart Analysis

Analysing on a lower time frame to get a more accurate picture, 4,608 BTC in trading volume was observed prior to the data release. Prices ranged between a low of 23,027.18 to a high of 23,128.00, a 0.44% change. Immediately following, trading volume increased significantly by 147% to 11,387 BTC. At this time, Bitcoin hit a low of 22,915.00 with a high of 23,200.51, a significant change of 1.23%.
