On 15th June, 2022, the Federal Open Market Committee has decided to increase the interest rate by 50 basis points for a target interest rate at 0.75-1.00%.

To see the impact and volatility of ETH's price during the Fed Interest Rate release, we will first observe the difference in volume and price changes on the 4-hours chart, followed by the 15-minutes chart. Change in prices will be be determined by the high and low prices instead of the opening and closing prices.

4-Hours Chart Analysis

In the period prior to the release, the trading volume was 399,319 ETH with prices swinging between 1,058.58 and 1,154.87, representing a swing of 8.34%. Subsequently, the trading volume increased considerably by 88% to 750,621 ETH. Price action ranged from a low of 1,045.00 to a high of 1,250.00, a significant difference of 16.40%

15-Minutes Chart Analysis

Analysing on a lower time frame to get a more accurate picture, 38,345 ETH in trading volume was observed prior to the data release. Prices ranged between a low of 1,078.13 to a high of 1,134.99, a 5.01% change. Immediately following, trading volume increased significantly by 217% to 121,453 ETH. At this time, Ethereum hit a low of 1,045.00 with a high of 1,135.00, a significant change of 7.93%.
