On 29th April, 2020, the Federal Open Market Committee has decided to decrease the interest rate by 100 basis points for a target interest rate at 0.00-0.25%.

To see the impact and volatility of BTC's price during the Fed Interest Rate release, we will first observe the difference in volume and price changes on the 4-hours chart, followed by the 15-minutes chart. Change in prices will be be determined by the high and low prices instead of the opening and closing prices.

4-Hours Chart Analysis

In the period prior to the release, the trading volume was 59,891 BTC with prices swinging between 8,260.79 and 8,952.89, representing a swing of 7.73%. Subsequently, the trading volume decreased by 48% to 30,857 BTC. Price action ranged from a low of 8,569.32 to a high of 8,932.00, a difference of 4.06%

15-Minutes Chart Analysis

Analysing on a lower time frame to get a more accurate picture, 10,551 BTC in trading volume was observed prior to the data release. Prices ranged between a low of 8,544.13 to a high of 8,952.89, a 4.57% change. Immediately following, trading volume decreased by 53% to 4,928 BTC. At this time, Bitcoin hit a low of 8,569.32 with a high of 8,740.81, a change of 1.96%.
