On 17th March, 2021, the Federal Open Market Committee has decided to maintain the target interest rate at 0.00-0.25%.

To see the impact and volatility of BTC's price during the Fed Interest Rate release, we will first observe the difference in volume and price changes on the 4-hours chart, followed by the 15-minutes chart. Change in prices will be be determined by the high and low prices instead of the opening and closing prices.

4-Hours Chart Analysis

In the period prior to the release, the trading volume was 10,775 BTC with prices swinging between 54,298.18 and 55,659.93, representing a swing of 2.45%. Subsequently, the trading volume increased considerably by 78% to 19,213 BTC. Price action ranged from a low of 55,542.50 to a high of 58,732.08, a significant difference of 5.43%

15-Minutes Chart Analysis

Analysing on a lower time frame to get a more accurate picture, 551 BTC in trading volume was observed prior to the data release. Prices ranged between a low of 55,392.99 to a high of 55,597.51, a 0.37% change. Immediately following, trading volume increased significantly by 298% to 2,194 BTC. At this time, Bitcoin hit a low of 55,542.50 with a high of 56,623.78, a significant change of 1.91%.
