On 17th March, 2021, the Federal Open Market Committee has decided to maintain the target interest rate at 0.00-0.25%.

To see the impact and volatility of ETH's price during the Fed Interest Rate release, we will first observe the difference in volume and price changes on the 4-hours chart, followed by the 15-minutes chart. Change in prices will be be determined by the high and low prices instead of the opening and closing prices.

4-Hours Chart Analysis

In the period prior to the release, the trading volume was 107,389 ETH with prices swinging between 1,758.38 and 1,794.34, representing a swing of 2.00%. Subsequently, the trading volume increased by 47% to 157,343 ETH. Price action ranged from a low of 1,788.93 to a high of 1,838.88, a difference of 2.72%

15-Minutes Chart Analysis

Analysing on a lower time frame to get a more accurate picture, 4,851 ETH in trading volume was observed prior to the data release. Prices ranged between a low of 1,785.37 to a high of 1,792.48, a 0.40% change. Immediately following, trading volume increased significantly by 194% to 14,269 ETH. At this time, Ethereum hit a low of 1,788.93 with a high of 1,808.44, a significant change of 1.08%.
