On 16th March, 2022, the Federal Open Market Committee has decided to maintain the target interest rate at 0.00-0.25%.

To see the impact and volatility of BTC's price during the Fed Interest Rate release, we will first observe the difference in volume and price changes on the 4-hours chart, followed by the 15-minutes chart. Change in prices will be be determined by the high and low prices instead of the opening and closing prices.

4-Hours Chart Analysis

In the period prior to the release, the trading volume was 14,179 BTC with prices swinging between 40,041.40 and 41,194.60, representing a swing of 2.80%. Subsequently, the trading volume increased considerably by 62% to 22,964 BTC. Price action ranged from a low of 39,311.53 to a high of 41,471.36, a significant difference of 5.21%

15-Minutes Chart Analysis

Analysing on a lower time frame to get a more accurate picture, 675 BTC in trading volume was observed prior to the data release. Prices ranged between a low of 40,180.58 to a high of 40,539.32, a 0.88% change. Immediately following, trading volume increased significantly by 780% to 5,937 BTC. At this time, Bitcoin hit a low of 39,560.00 with a high of 40,567.53, a significant change of 2.48%.
