On 15th December, 2021, the Federal Open Market Committee has decided to maintain the target interest rate at 0.00-0.25%.

To see the impact and volatility of ETH's price during the Fed Interest Rate release, we will first observe the difference in volume and price changes on the 4-hours chart, followed by the 15-minutes chart. Change in prices will be be determined by the high and low prices instead of the opening and closing prices.

4-Hours Chart Analysis

In the period prior to the release, the trading volume was 115,658 ETH with prices swinging between 3,643.73 and 3,840.45, representing a swing of 5.12%. Subsequently, the trading volume increased considerably by 92% to 222,092 ETH. Price action ranged from a low of 3,759.06 to a high of 4,092.22, a significant difference of 8.14%

15-Minutes Chart Analysis

Analysing on a lower time frame to get a more accurate picture, 12,567 ETH in trading volume was observed prior to the data release. Prices ranged between a low of 3,778.08 to a high of 3,840.45, a 1.62% change. Immediately following, trading volume increased significantly by 379% to 60,250 ETH. At this time, Ethereum hit a low of 3,759.06 with a high of 3,986.80, a significant change of 5.71%.
