On 31st July, 2024, the Federal Open Market Committee has decided to maintain the target interest rate at 5.25-5.50%.

To see the impact and volatility of ETH's price during the Fed Interest Rate release, we will first observe the difference in volume and price changes on the 4-hours chart, followed by the 15-minutes chart. Change in prices will be be determined by the high and low prices instead of the opening and closing prices.

4-Hours Chart Analysis

In the period prior to the release, the trading volume was 46,398 ETH with prices swinging between 3,282.76 and 3,340.55, representing a swing of 1.73%. Subsequently, the trading volume increased considerably by 55% to 71,790 ETH. Price action ranged from a low of 3,213.75 to a high of 3,324.38, a significant difference of 3.33%

15-Minutes Chart Analysis

Analysing on a lower time frame to get a more accurate picture, 3,022 ETH in trading volume was observed prior to the data release. Prices ranged between a low of 3,309.05 to a high of 3,326.79, a 0.53% change. Immediately following, trading volume increased significantly by 148% to 7,489 ETH. At this time, Ethereum hit a low of 3,290.76 with a high of 3,324.38, a significant change of 1.01%.
