On 18th September, 2024, the Federal Open Market Committee has decided to maintain the target interest rate at 5.25-5.50%.

To see the impact and volatility of ETH's price during the Fed Interest Rate release, we will first observe the difference in volume and price changes on the 4-hours chart, followed by the 15-minutes chart. Change in prices will be be determined by the high and low prices instead of the opening and closing prices.

4-Hours Chart Analysis

In the period prior to the release, the trading volume was 41,256 ETH with prices swinging between 2,288.00 and 2,318.40, representing a swing of 1.31%. Subsequently, the trading volume increased significantly by 166% to 109,703 ETH. Price action ranged from a low of 2,290.00 to a high of 2,364.42, a significant difference of 3.15%

15-Minutes Chart Analysis

Analysing on a lower time frame to get a more accurate picture, 4,811 ETH in trading volume was observed prior to the data release. Prices ranged between a low of 2,305.21 to a high of 2,318.40, a 0.57% change. Immediately following, trading volume increased significantly by 558% to 31,658 ETH. At this time, Ethereum hit a low of 2,301.93 with a high of 2,342.49, a significant change of 1.73%.
