On 7th November, 2024, the Federal Open Market Committee has decided to decrease the interest rate by 50 basis points for a target interest rate at 4.75-5.00%.

To see the impact and volatility of ETH's price during the Fed Interest Rate release, we will first observe the difference in volume and price changes on the 4-hours chart, followed by the 15-minutes chart. Change in prices will be be determined by the high and low prices instead of the opening and closing prices.

4-Hours Chart Analysis

In the period prior to the release, the trading volume was 119,486 ETH with prices swinging between 2,780.90 and 2,890.00, representing a swing of 3.78%. Subsequently, the trading volume remain relatively unchanged at 121,995 ETH. Price action ranged from a low of 2,850.99 to a high of 2,916.11, a difference of 2.23%

15-Minutes Chart Analysis

Analysing on a lower time frame to get a more accurate picture, 7,600 ETH in trading volume was observed prior to the data release. Prices ranged between a low of 2,867.81 to a high of 2,890.00, a 0.77% change. Immediately following, trading volume increased considerably by 93% to 14,670 ETH. At this time, Ethereum hit a low of 2,865.40 with a high of 2,893.80, a change of 0.98%.
