On 29th April, 2020, the Federal Open Market Committee has decided to decrease the interest rate by 100 basis points for a target interest rate at 0.00-0.25%.

To see the impact and volatility of ETH's price during the Fed Interest Rate release, we will first observe the difference in volume and price changes on the 4-hours chart, followed by the 15-minutes chart. Change in prices will be be determined by the high and low prices instead of the opening and closing prices.

4-Hours Chart Analysis

In the period prior to the release, the trading volume was 452,697 ETH with prices swinging between 207.61 and 218.77, representing a swing of 5.10%. Subsequently, the trading volume decreased by 53% to 211,378 ETH. Price action ranged from a low of 211.00 to a high of 216.95, a difference of 2.74%

15-Minutes Chart Analysis

Analysing on a lower time frame to get a more accurate picture, 59,862 ETH in trading volume was observed prior to the data release. Prices ranged between a low of 213.57 to a high of 217.87, a 1.97% change. Immediately following, trading volume decreased by 25% to 44,789 ETH. At this time, Ethereum hit a low of 211.00 with a high of 215.30, a change of 2.00%.
