On 27th January, 2021, the Federal Open Market Committee has decided to maintain the target interest rate at 0.00-0.25%.

To see the impact and volatility of ETH's price during the Fed Interest Rate release, we will first observe the difference in volume and price changes on the 4-hours chart, followed by the 15-minutes chart. Change in prices will be be determined by the high and low prices instead of the opening and closing prices.

4-Hours Chart Analysis

In the period prior to the release, the trading volume was 445,838 ETH with prices swinging between 1,216.52 and 1,307.76, representing a swing of 6.98%. Subsequently, the trading volume decreased by 34% to 295,444 ETH. Price action ranged from a low of 1,224.02 to a high of 1,297.00, a difference of 5.63%

15-Minutes Chart Analysis

Analysing on a lower time frame to get a more accurate picture, 26,186 ETH in trading volume was observed prior to the data release. Prices ranged between a low of 1,222.17 to a high of 1,234.01, a 0.96% change. Immediately following, trading volume increased considerably by 84% to 48,124 ETH. At this time, Ethereum hit a low of 1,224.02 with a high of 1,265.98, a significant change of 3.31%.
